Grandview police praise two men for rescuing 4-year-old boy from abductor
GRANDVIEW, Mo. – Police credited two men with rescuing a 4-year-old boy who was momentarily abducted by a woman Monday evening at a Grandview apartment complex.
Police were called to the 11900 block of Newton Avenue just after 6:30 p.m. on a report that the boy had been abducted. Witnesses said a woman grabbed the child as the boy’s mother watched from her wheelchair. Two men nearby saw what was happening and followed the woman into the building and up a flight of stairs. Once there, the men confronted the woman, according to police.
The woman refused to hand over the toddler and dangled the boy over a railing. One of the men grabbed the boy, preventing him from falling about 17 feet, saidSgt. Dean Van Winkle.
The toddler was returned to his mother. Police took the other woman into custody.
“I think they saved the kid,” Van Winkle said. (This story was posted at www.kansascity.com.)
