Kansas City police make 17 DUI arrests at checkpoint
A checkpoint near the Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport overnight led to 17 arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol, police said Saturday.
A total of 785 vehicles were stopped by Kansas City police and Missouri Highway Patrol troopers during the five-hour operation at U.S. 169 and N.W. Harlem Road.
Besides the DUI arrests, police said that there were four citations for driving with a suspended or revoked license, two people were charged with possession of drugs and one minor was cited for possessing alcohol. There was one careless driving citation and eight other traffic violations, according to police. (This story was posted at www.kansascity.com.)
