A state highway worker escaped serious injury in a traffic accident Wednesday morning, a Missouri Department of Transportation official said.
Atractor trailer cab rear-ended the worker’s MoDOT truck on southbound Interstate 435 near Front Street about 9:30 a.m., police said Afterward, the the MoDOT driver complained of minor injuries and was taken to a localhospital.
Thetruck had a rear-mounted crash cushion that absorbed much of the impact, said Chris Redline, assistant MoDOT Kansas City district engineer.
Ahead of the MoDOT truck, several department employees were setting up traffic controls for a bridge inspection, Redline said. If the truck had not been there, “it’s possible that our workers could have been run over,” Redline said.(This story was posted at www.kansascity.com.)
