Hello, Life 88.5 listeners

You've heard “Sanders dot Law” on the radio. Here's who we are.

Thank you for looking us up. When you hear “Sanders dot Law” on Life 88.5, that's our firm. The name is also our web address: type Sanders.Law into your browser and you'll land on our home page. This is Sanders.Law's page, not the station's.

Why you only hear our name

Life 88.5 is a nonprofit, noncommercial station.1 Federal law and FCC rules let a noncommercial station acknowledge the businesses that support it. Those on-air acknowledgments are meant to identify the business, not promote it, so they can't include claims about quality, comparisons, prices, incentives to buy, or a call to action.2 The station decides the exact wording, and that's why you hear a short thank-you to “Sanders dot Law.” This page tells you the rest.

I'm Steve Sanders

I'm a trial attorney and the founder of Sanders.Law in Kansas City. I've practiced law since 2001, and our lawyers are licensed in Missouri and Kansas.3 Before law school I earned a B.A. from Southwest Baptist University in 1988, summa cum laude, with a major in Religious Education and a minor in Biblical Languages. In 1993 I earned a Master of Divinity at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, here in Kansas City, where I graduated as valedictorian.3

Our lawyers are Civil Prosecutors. We're trial attorneys, not a government office. We work for people who were hurt, and we hold the people responsible accountable in civil court. My wife, Nancy, works beside me at the firm.3 Every case gets the full team behind it.

What we do

Semi-truck wrecks

Trucking companies operate under federal safety rules on driver hours, driver qualifications, drug and alcohol testing, and maintenance. Much of the proof of whether those rules were followed sits in the company's own records. We work early to have that evidence preserved, and we look at every company in the chain, not just the driver. Semi-truck wrecks

Concussion and traumatic brain injury

The CDC notes that concussion symptoms can show up hours or days after the injury and can affect how a person feels, thinks, acts and sleeps.4 If you were told it was “just a concussion” and you still don't feel like yourself, keep telling your doctors what you notice. Traumatic brain injury

Other serious injuries and wrongful death

This includes car and motorcycle wrecks, drunk-driving crashes and families who have lost someone to a preventable crash. We don't represent drunk drivers. We sue drunk drivers. All practice areas

Why we support Life 88.5

Sanders.Law first sponsored the station in 2005, back when it was KLJC. We keep doing it for the same reason we do our work: we want a safer community, where neighbors look out for each other.

The station shows up for Kansas City in ways we're glad to be part of. At Life 88.5's Snow Cone with a Cop events, families meet the officers who serve their neighborhoods. This year we helped support two of them: Aug. 25 with the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department and Aug. 31 with the Johnson County Sheriff's Office.5 At its Terrific Tuesday food collections, listeners stock local food pantries before Thanksgiving. This year we're providing the first 200 pounds of food at the Independence (Nov. 3) and Raytown (Nov. 17) collections.6

Sanders.Law is a paying sponsor (underwriter) of Life 88.5. Our sponsorship pays for on-air acknowledgments. It does not pay for referrals or recommendations, and it doesn't mean Life 88.5 or its owner, the University of Northwestern – St. Paul, endorses Sanders.Law. This page was written by Sanders.Law, not by the station.

If you or someone you love was hurt

Get medical care first. When you're ready, call us at (816) 457-6006. Calls are answered 24/7, and consultations are confidential. You're welcome to make the first call for a spouse, parent or adult child. The person who was hurt is our client, so we'll want to talk with them directly, or with their legal guardian or representative if they can't make decisions on their own.
