At Sanders.Law, we see firsthand how drunk drivers can cause tragic and all-too-preventable accidents. To do his part in reducing drunk driving wrecks, Attorney Steve Sanders stepped up to sponsor the Heroes for Heartland Law Enforcement Recognition Banquet hosted by the Missouri Heartland Chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD).
WE WON’T GIVE UP UNTIL DRUNK DRIVING ENDS
Attorney Steve Sanders has sponsored the MADD Heroes in the Heartland Banquet for five years running, and has done the same for other MADD events throughout the year. This year’s banquet will be held on November 9th at the Belton Memorial Station. The event will recognize 75–100 law enforcement officers from counties including:
- Jackson
- Cass
- Clay
- Platte
- Bates
- Wyandotte (KS)
- Johnson (KS)
Though law enforcement officers do their best to keep drunk drivers off the road, people still make bad choices—and these men and women are first responders to horrific scenes. They may have to attend court to defend the sobriety tests they administered or be the ones to inform next-of-kin that a loved one has been tragically killed. MADD and Sanders.Law recognize the courage and strength necessary to perform these duties day after day. That’s why we’re helping recognize the heroes who live in our own community.

Even if you’d never even think of getting behind the wheel after having a drink, you can still be part of the solution to drunk driving. If you have friends or family members who like to drink, make sure they have a plan to get home. Whether you help them get an Uber or go with them as a designated driver, your support will help them make good choices. Sometimes drunk drivers have a drinking problem and are afraid to face it on their own. You may be able to help them pursue treatment.
