Our team at Sanders.Law is dedicated to find ways to keep giving back to our community, which is why we are excited to announce that we will be sponsoring MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) and their upcoming event “Walk Like MADD & MADD 5k Dash.” Join us for a day of fun and awareness as we remember the victims of drunk driving and work to change the future and keep our roads safe.
Walk Like MADD will take place on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Theis Park in Kansas City, MO. The event begins with registration at 8am, and the walk and run start at 9am. Registration fees are $25 for the walk and $35 for the run. Register by May 1, 2018 for a free tee shirt, and run registrants will also receive a medallion at the event.
WALK Like MADD will feature fun activities for the whole family, including a DJ, face painting, a silent auction, a Kids Zone, a photo booth, and tours of the KCPD DUI Mobile Command Center.
HOW YOU CAN HELP!
If you want to pitch in by doing more than showing up and participating in the event, MADD is running a Sneaker Drive leading up to the Walk. MADD is collecting at least 338 pairs of your old sneakers. Why? Each pair of sneakers will represent one of the 338 victims of drunk driving who was killed in Kansas and Missouri in 2017. These shoes will play a special role in a victim tribute at the Walk Like MADD event, and will be sent to GotSneakers for recycling. For every pair sent, MADD will receive $1.00 to support their cause.
So dig in your closets for unused or worn out sneakers and athletic cleats. MADD will pick up your sneakers, so you don’t even need to leave the house. Call the MADD office at 816-318-4515 or email heartland.mo@madd.org to coordinate pick up before June 16th.
